A loss last week at Morris knocked the Roland Rangers out of the playoff picture, but now they're right back in it.

The OSSAA announced on Tuesday that Victory Christian must forfeit five of its six wins from this season, one of which was a Week 6 game at Roland.

The one victory that the Conquerors get to keep is last week's 41-12 win over Hugo, which also benefits the Rangers. The developments leave Hugo and Roland tied for fourth place in the District 3A-4 standings with identical 3-3 league marks.

That sets up an important game on Friday night at Ranger Stadium, where Roland will host Hugo in a fight for the last playoff spot. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

Hugo is 5-4 overall and the Buffaloes' three district losses have come against three of the top teams in the league: Morris (19-0), Eufaula (42-21) and Victory Christian. Hugo owns wins against Valliant, Idabel, Metro Christian, Muldrow and Checotah.

Among the key players for Hugo are the speedy Locke brothers. Derrick Locke is the quarterback for the Buffaloes while Delvonsha Locke has already gained over 1,000 yards this season at tailback.

Roland is coming off a 22-8 loss at Morris. The Eagles' Jamel Rucker scored on runs of six and 19 yards to give Morris a 15-0 lead entering the fourth period and Morris added another TD in the fourth period to make it 22-0.

Ranger tailback Matt Goodson got Roland on the scoreboard late in the game, running for a two-yard touchdown and also running for the two-point conversion.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
