Football round-up: Sallisaw pulls away from Muldrow

MULDROW - Folowing a close first half, Sallisaw scored four touchdowns after the break to post a 43-14 win over Muldrow on Friday night.

The Black Diamonds led 14-7 at halftime and began the third period with a six-minute drive that culminated in a short touchdown run by Kyle Stewart. Bubba Philpot went 86 yards up the middle for another TD as Class 4A third-ranked Sallisaw began to pull away in the third quarter.

The Diamonds improved to 3-0 with the non-district win and will play at Broken Bow on Friday. Muldrow (1-2) will travel to Victory Christian for the District 3A-4 opener on Friday.

Spiro 41, Roland 33

ROLAND - The Bulldogs scored 15 points in the final six minutes to snatch a non-district win away from the Rangers in a battle of undefeated teams on Friday night.

Roland came from behind to take 33-26 lead in the fourth quarter on a 12-yard Ben Fowlkes touchdown run.

However, Spiro's Kenneth Summers caught a 49-yard touchdown pass to pull Spiro with 33-32. A field goal put Spiro in front with 2:08 remaining and the Bulldogs sealed the win by returning an interception for a touchdown in the final moments.

Fowlkes ran for three touchdowns in the loss and Roland quarterback Chase Quickel tossed TD passes to Michael File and Brian Smith.

The Rangers fell to 2-1 and will open District 3A-4 play on Friday at Bristow.

Central 48, Porum 30

Central christened the brand new Tiger Stadium with a blowout win over Porum Friday night.

Quarterback Stevie Morris had a big first half, leading the Tigers to a 40-0 edge by the break. The junior ran for two scores, passed to Josh Small for a touchdown and returned an interception 30 yards for another TD.

Central is now 2-1 overall and 1-1 in District A-8. Porum dropped to 0-3.

Gans 50, Community Christian 30

NORMAN - The Grizzlies stayed undefeated with non-district victory on the road Friday night. Now 3-0, Gans will host defending state champion Morrison on Friday night when the Grizzlies return to District B-4 action.

Vian 54, Westville 13

WESTVILLE - The Wolverines maintained their recent dominance of Westville on Friday night at Akin Langley Stadium.

Vian moved to 3-0 on the season by recording its sixth consecutive win in the series with Westville.

Demarqua Pratt ran for 133 yards and two touchdowns in the victory. Quarterback Seth Sloan ran for 94 yards and two touchdowns and also threw touchdown passes to Londell Taylor and Phillip Wright. Taylor had four receptions for 67 yards.

The Wolverines will open District 2A-6 play on Friday at Stigler.

Panama 34, Gore 21 PANAMA - The Razorbacks pulled away from Gore on Friday night to stay unbeaten in District A-8.

Panama is 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the league, while the Pirates fell to 1-2 and 1-1. Next up for Gore is a Friday night home game against Pocola.
