A public hearing will be conducted by officials at Liberty School, north of Roland, at 5:45 p.m. Monday for public comment on financial matters including past and future expenditures. The hearing will held in the school superintendent's office.
A discussion and informational meeting on the possibility of a coal-fired generation plant locating east of Sallisaw, and the hazards of coal-fired plants, will be held by members of the Sequoyah County Clean Air Coalition Monday. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Sallisaw Civic Center, 111 N. Elm.
Adult Basic Education Classes held at Gore Elementary on Monday and Tuesday from 4 until 6:30 p.m. will now be in held in Room 10. Gore's Fall Clean-Up Days will be Oct. 6 through 8. Water and trash customers of Gore Public Works (GPWA) will be allowed to dispose of undesirable items, except batteries, air compressors, hazardous materials, business and commercial wastes, and tires. A list of acceptable and unacceptable items is posted at the Gore Municipal Building and other locations in Gore. The list will also be available at the dumpsite during the cleanup. The location for drop off will be in large containers to be temporarily placed at the intersection of NW Railroad Street and Main Street. Participants must provide identification and proof of GPWA service, such as a bill. Designated drop-off hours may be enforced.
