ROLAND - Drew Roberts tossed a three-yard touchdown pass to Travon Hudson with 22 seconds left to lift Roland to a 20-17 win over Checotah and send the Rangers to the playoffs.

Roland got the ball with 2:46 left in the game and drove 66 yards for the winning score, erasing a 17-13 deficit and ending the Wildcats' playoff hopes.

Roland improved to 5-5 overall and 4-3 in District 3A-4, while Checotah ended its season at 3-7 and 3-4.

Teven Thompson scored Roland's other two touchdowns with a five-yard run in the first quarter and a 14-yard run in the third period.

Sallisaw 50, Okmulgee 7

Sallisaw built a 37-7 lead by halftime and went to post a 50-7 victory over Okmulgee on Friday night at Perry F. Lattimore Stadium.

Kyle Stewart ran for over 100 yards and three touchdowns in the first half, while quarterback Matt Oberste was a perfect 8-for-8 with a TD pass as Sallisaw put away the visitors before the break.

With the win, Sallisaw closed the regular season at 6-4 overall and 5-2 in District 4A-4. Hilldale and Stilwell both won on Friday night to match the Diamonds' league record, but Sallisaw's point margin of 55 was enough to clinch second place and a home playoff game on Friday in the first round of the playoffs.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
