The Roland Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting their annual Christmas parade at noon Dec. 8.

The Christmas parade theme this year is "Christmas In Transit," Jaci Pitts, chamber member, said.

"We are giving prize money for the best decorated floats for first, second and third place winners. The prize money will be $175 for first place, $150 for second place, and $100 for the third place winner," Pitts said.

"The chamber would love for all area businesses, activity groups, schools, churches and individuals to put a float in the parade as well as any old cars, tractors, horses or etc. Please help support our community and give our children a great Christmas Parade," Pitts said.

There is no entry fee. The parade will line up at the Roland High School parking lot at 10:30 a.m. and will go down Roland Road and finish the parade in the Roland Hills Shopping Center.

An entry form is available at either one of the Roland banks, Roland water department, Roland Police Station or at the chamber's Web site at www.rolandok.com, Pitts said.

For more information contact Pitts at (918) 427-5551.

The Muldrow Christmas Parade will be held at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 8.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
