The Roland Area Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Christmas parade at noon Dec. 8. This year's parade theme is "Christmas In Transit," which is celebrating the state centennial and "Traveling Through Time."
Chamber officials said they plan to give prize money for the best decorated floats for first-, second-, and third-place. The prize money will be $175 for first, $150 for second, and $100 for the third-place winner.
Officials said the chamber would love for all area businesses, activity groups, schools, churches and individuals to put a float in the parade, as well as any old cars and tractors, horses, or other modes of transportation.
There is no entry fee for the Roland parade. The parade line-up will start at the Roland High School parking lot at 10:30 a.m. and will go down Roland Road and finish the parade in the Roland Hills Shopping Center. Those interested in participating in the parade are urged to pick up an entry from at either one of the Roland banks, the Roland Water Department, Roland Police Station, or at the chamber's Web site at
www.rolandok.com.
