Moffett Police Officers

Dear Editor:

I am writing this letter in support of the members of the Moffett Police Department.

I was employed at the police department for over two years, and I worked very closely with officers Kathy Luper and Charles Miller. I saw first hand the work and high ethics used by these officers in the performance of their day-to-day duties.

The people brought in by these officers needed to be in jail. They diligently attempted to keep our highways safe by removing the drunks and persons "high on illegal substances" and bringing them to justice.

I have seen people brought in with small children who have made attempts to hide illegal substances on the children or their baggage. I have seen the compassion given to each person arrested by Officer Luper and Officer Miller.

These officers stay on call 24 hours a day, and they give up most of their life to devote to the town of Moffett.

They both genuinely care about their town and surrounding area. I don't fully understand the legality of the annexation, but I can tell anyone who wants to know about the integrity of these two officers.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
