German Sanchez, 35, pleaded no contest Sept. 28 to charges of felony shooting with intent to kill, possession of a firearm after former conviction of a felony, and two misdemeanors, including false identification and larceny, according to court records.
Sanchez is accused of shooting his brother-in-law three times in the head, for an unknown reason, at his brother-in-law's home north of Muldrow on Nov. 17. Following the incident, Sheriff's deputies followed a blood trail to a patch of tall weeds about 150 yards from the shooting scene, where they discovered Sanchez hiding, deputies reported. The victim survived his injuries.
In a blind plea, it is the judge's discretion to determine the sentences. Sanchez faces up to life in prison for the shooting with intent to kill charge, one to 10 years for the after former conviction count, and up to six months in jail for each of the misdemeanors.
Sanchez's Roland attorney, Scott Hickman, requested that a pre-sentencing investigation be conducted prior to his client's sentencing, which is set for 1:30 p.m. Nov. 13.
