RUSH SPRINGS - Vian got a strong effort from its defense plus another seven touchdowns from Vfastv Locust as the Wolverines blew out previously undefeated Rush Springs 55-10 on Saturday night.

A large Vian contingent made the 203-mile trek to Rush Springs and they were rewarded with a dominant effort from the No. 2-ranked Wolverines, who secured a spot in next weekend's Class A state semifinals.

Locust ran his season tally to 57 touchdowns, scoring on runs of 8, 86, 5, 33, 2, 63 and 29 yards. The junior tailback finished the night with 308 yards rushing on 20 carries for the 13-0 Wolverines.

Rush Springs entered the game with a 12-0 record and a No. 4 ranking, but the Redskins' potent ground game was limited to 173 yards on 42 attempts. Rush Springs' lone touchdown came late in the contest against the Vian reserves.

The Wolverines will play No. 1-ranked Tonkawa in the semifinals at a site and time to be announced later by the OSSAA. The other semifinal match-up is Velma-Alma vs. Washington. Velma-Alma advanced with a win over Commerce, while Washington edged defending champion Pawnee.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
