All six Sequoyah County football teams that made the playoffs were eliminated on Friday night after first-round losses.

Oologah 21, Sallisaw 13

Oologah rallied from a 13-7 deficit in the second half to edge the Black Diamonds in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs at Perry F. Lattimore Stadium.

Sallisaw had gone in front on a Kyle Stewart touchdown run in the first half and a pair of Carlos Nieto field goals, but could not hang on and saw its season come to a close at 6-5 overall.

Oologah improved to 6-5 and advances to face No. 1-ranked Bishop McGuinness in the second round.

Chandler 14, Vian 13

VIAN - Chandler went in front with a first-half interception return for a touchdown and held off the Wolverines to post a first-round win in the Class 2A playoffs at St. John Stadium.

Miguel Pratt put Vian on top early with a one-yard touchdown run and, after Vian fell behind 14-7, Chris Peoples booted a pair of field goals to pull the Wolverines close.

Vian finished its season with a record of 8-3. Chandler, the 2005 state champion, improved to 9-2 with the win.

Berryhill 27, Muldrow 26

MULDROW - The Chieftains trimmed Muldrow by a point on Friday to move into the Class 3A quarterfinals against No. 1-ranked Clinton.

Muldrow saw its season come to a close with a record of 6-5, while Berryhill moved to 7-4.

Vinita 47, Roland 8

VINITA - Hornet quarterback Billy Carter was 10-of-13 for 273 yards and three touchdowns in the first half while leading No. 3-ranked Vinita past the Rangers on Friday in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs.

Roland, which got a fourth-quarter touchdown run from Spencer Owens, closed its season with a 5-6 record. Vinita improved to 10-1.

Ketchum 21, Gore 14

KETCHUM - Gore was eliminated from the Class A playoffs on Friday night with a close loss to Ketchum.

The Pirates end their season at 6-5.

Cashion 46, Gans 0

CASHION - Third-ranked Cashion defeated Gans on Friday in the first round of the Class B playoffs to rebound from its first loss of the season.

The Wildcats were defeated last week by Dewar, but bounced back to run their record to 10-1. Gans saw a six-game winning streak snapped and was shut out for the first time this season while dropping to 8-3.
