A Sequoyah County man has been charged with a sex crime after allegedly being caught engaged in a sexual act with two juvenile girls.

John Lockett, 39, was charged Nov. 2 with sodomy and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to court records.

Muldrow Police Officer Mike Parkins reported that on Oct. 14 he was called to a Muldrow home where a woman had caught her daughter in bed with a 17-year-old girl and a man.

While in route, Parkins reported seeing a man matching the alleged suspect's description walking down the street near the home. The man, who identified himself as Lockett, told police he had been at a friend's house and he was on his way home.

Parkins went to the home and spoke with the mother of the 15-year-old. The woman said her daughter's friend had spent the night with her daughter and when the woman went to check on the girls, she found the girls in a sexual situation with the man.

The woman reported that when she left the room to call the police, the man broke the window and left the home. Police discovered an empty vodka bottle under the bed, and the girl's mother said there was no liquor in the home because she didn't drink.

Lockett was later identified in a photo lineup as the suspect.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
