PORTER - Michael Bunch and Littlewolf Pettit hooked up for three touchdowns, but it wasn't enough for Cave Springs as the Hornets lost 56-18 at Porter on Friday night.

Porter's Cody Tabor, a sophomore tailback, scored on runs of 52, 26 and five yards and also tossed a 51-yard TD pass to quarterback Greg Scarborough to help the Pirates snap a four-game losing streak.

Porter improved to 2-4 overall and 1-4 in District B-3. Cave Springs dropped to 1-5 and 0-4.

The Hornets trailed 14-0 at the start of the second quarter, but used a 31-yard touchdown pass from Bunch to Pettit to get on the scoreboard with 10:31 left in the half.

Porter took control after that, scoring 22 unanswered points to grab a 36-6 halftime lead.

Bunch threw touchdown passes of 21 and 49 yards to Pettit after the break, but the Hornets were unable to keep pace with Porter.

The Pirates of former Central head coach Kelly Husted rolled up 477 yards of total offense. Tabor keyed the ground game with 129 yards on 11 carries. Scarborough completed 5-of-8 passes for 157 yards with touchdown strikes to LaMarques Walton and Jay Macaruso.

Cave Springs got most of its yards through the air as quarterback Bunch completed 19 passes for 268 yards.

Pettit caught seven of those passes for 152 yards, while Bryan Girdner caught seven for 73 yards.

Sam Morgan picked up 30 yards rushing on four attempts for the Hornets.

The Hornet defense was led by Girdner with 13 tackles and Morgan with 10 tackles, including two sacks.

These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher.
