Kevin Lloyd Tyson, 40, was charged Tuesday with lewd molestation, sodomy, and rape by instrumentation, according to court records. As of Tuesday, Tyson had not yet been booked into the Sequoyah County Jail in Sallisaw, jail records indicated.
On Oct. 15 Sallisaw Police Detective Sandra Girdner was called to the police department in reference to a 15-year-old female making allegations that a relative, Tyson, had been sexually molesting her for years.
Girdner spoke with the juvenile, who told Girdner that Tyson had received custody of her about 2000 or 2001 and that she was in Department of Human Services custody before that. At the time of the interview, the girl told police that she and Tyson lived in an apartment in Fort Smith and had been there for about two and half weeks. She on Oct. 13 Tyson wrote a note stating things that he wanted her to do to him sexually.
The alleged victim told police that Tyson got mad and she left. The girl said that she ran away and Tyson issued a pick-up order with the Fort Smith Police Department.
The girl told Girdner that when she left, it was because of the sexual abuse from Tyson. The girl reported that she and Tyson lived in Sallisaw from June 2005 to May 2006. She alleged that Tyson molested her from the time he got her from DHS custody until she left Fort Smith. The juvenile described the abuse in detail.
Girdner spoke with a detective from the Fort Smith Police Department on Oct. 24 in reference to the apprehension order and the detective told Girdner that she could not locate Tyson. The girl told police that when she went to her apartment to get some clothing, the apartment was cleaned out and Tyson was gone.
