Black Diamonds make all-district football team

Three members of the Sallisaw football team have been selected as District 4A-4 Players of the Year for their respective positions.

League coaches honored Matt Richardson as Co-Offensive Lineman of the Year, Clay Agent as Linebacker of the Year and Ryan Hooper as Co-Defensive Lineman of the Year.

The three players helped the Black Diamonds post a 6-5 record in 2007 and place second in District 4A-4 before falling to Oologah in the first round of the playoffs.

Richardson is a senior center and he shared his award with Stilwell lineman Caleb Tripp. Agent is a senior who led the team in tackles, while senior defensive tackle Hooper was second on the team in tackles.

Running back Mitchell Bailey of district champion Broken Bow was the Offensive Player of the Year and the defensive honor went to Hilldale's Zack Wallace.

In all, Sallisaw had 11 seniors make the 4A-4 All-District Team. In addition to Richardson, Agent and Hooper, the Diamonds' other first-team selections were Clint Agent, Blaine Hines, Trey Hunt, Tim Phillips, Blake Rea, Jake Seay, Kyle Stewart and Shane Flashner.
