Elections draw candidates

As of Wednesday morning, only three school board elections have drawn opponents for the Feb. 12 annual school board elections, while no one had yet to file as candidate for Sallisaw mayor.

Candidates have until 5 p.m. Wednesday to file for the open posts. A complete list of the candidates will be in the Sunday edition of Your TIMES.

As of Wednesday morning, the following candidates had filed for the elections:

- Belfonte School: Office 3, Roy Lee Soap, incumbent, of Muldrow

- Central School: Office 3, Joe Randolph, incumbent, of Sallisaw

- Gans School: Office 3, Kelly Youngblood of Gans, and Terry Brant, incumbent, of Muldrow

- Gore School: Office 3, Matt Cash of Gore, and Richard Smith, incumbent, of Gore

- Liberty School: Office 3, Terry M. Nichols, incumbent, of Muldrow

- Marble City School: Office 3, Felicia Edwards of Marble City

- Moffett School: Office 3, Paul Hodgens, incumbent, of Moffett

- Muldrow School: Office 3, Darin Huggins, incumbent, of Muldrow

- Roland School: Office 3, Charles A. Howard, incumbent, of Roland

- Sallisaw School: Office 3, Ricky Taylor of Sallisaw, and Tim G. Blount of Sallisaw

-Vian School: Office 3, Larry Vickers Jr. of Vian

- Sallisaw Chief of Police: Shaloa Edwards, incumbent, of Sallisaw

No candidates have yet to file for spots on the school boards for Braggs School, Brushy School, or Vo-tech.

Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
