As a result of an ongoing investigation into the illegal distribution of marijuana in Sequoyah County, three Vian area residents were arrested on various drug and firearm-related charges Thursday.
Arrested, as a result of the investigation were, Billy Jason Cooper, 31, Bobby Wayne Cooper Jr., 46, and Jenny Bethanna Cooper, 48, all of Vian.
Sequoyah County Sheriff's deputies and District 27 Drug Task Force agents teamed up to execute the search warrant at the Vian area residence Thursday afternoon. Sheriff's deputies at the scene reported that, upon entering the residence, they encountered several vicious dogs. Sheriff's deputies reported that they managed to contain the dogs without injury to the animals or officers at the scene.
Sheriff's deputies reported finding substances appearing to be marijuana, along with items of paraphernalia commonly associated with the distribution and use of controlled dangerous substances. Sheriff's deputies at the scene also reported finding firearms, some of which were loaded, during the search process.
All three Coopers were booked into the Sequoyah County Jail on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, possession of a police scanner in commission of a felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The Coopers were later released on $23,000 bonds each.
