Funeral services for Barbara Jean Garner, 79, of Muldrow are being held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Agent Chapel in Muldrow.
Bro. Ron Riddle and Coby Smith will officiate. Burial is in the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Ark., under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow.
Mrs. Garner was born on Jan. 5, 1927, in Mulberry, Ark., to James Battles and Ozella (Huggins) Battles. She died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006, in Alma, Ark.
Mrs. Garner was a cook at area nursing homes and she was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Mulberry.
She married James Allen Garner on Nov. 18, 1943, in Mulberry. He preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 2004, in Fort Smith, Ark.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Smith of Van Buren, Ark., and Carolyn Riddle of Greenbriar, Ark.; one son, david Garner of Lodi, Calif.; 12 grandchildren, Lisa Johnson, Terry and Coby Smith, Cambree Willmon, Ron, Tracy, and Shawn Riddle, Kristy Fiddler, and Jason, Jarred, Nathan, and Christina Garner; 23 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Ruth Taff of Mulberry, Betty Nichols of Ozark, Ark., Katie Garner of Muldrow, and Pat Taff of Tulsa; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, James M. Battles and Harold G. Battles.
Pallbearers are Jason Garner, Nathan Garner, Tracy Riddle, Shawn Riddle, Terry Smith, and Coby Smith.
