Funeral services for Jerry Phelps, 56, of Gore, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Sallisaw with Rev. Jason Helmbacher officiating.

Burial was in Garland Cemetery, northeast of Stigler, under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Sallisaw.

Mr. Phelps was born March 13, 1951, in Oklahoma City, to Lorene Nance Lamb. He died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, in Gore.

Mr. Phelps enjoyed playing with his granddaughter and doing woodwork and other work around his home. He was involved in AA in Gutrhie and in Sequoyah County through various organizations. He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Sallisaw.

Survivors include his wife, Renee of the home; one daughter, Megan Brown and her husband, Lewis, of Vian; one sister, Freda Burris of Morgantown, Ky.; one brother, James Phelps of Manhattan, Kan.; one granddaughter, Nellie Brown; and five nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers were Codie Phelps, Caleb Phelps, Sean Phelps, Brent Miller, Mike Smithson and Steve Sheffield.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church, Lottie Moon, 1101 N. Wheeler, Sallisaw, OK., 74955.
