Football Round-Up: Vian cruises into quarterfinals

VIAN - The Wolverines scored six first half touchdowns on Friday night while romping to a 56-14 win over Colcord in the second round of the Class 2A football playoffs at St. John Stadium.

Seth Sloan passed for two touchdowns and returned a fumble 20 yards for another to get the Wolverines going and they went on to book a spot in the third round against the winner of Hobart and Alva.

A short touchdown run by Vfastv Locust capped Vian's first drive of the night before Sloan plucked a fumble out of midair and ran it in for another TD to make it 14-0. Vian led 21-0 when Sloan connected with Londell Taylor for a 65-yard TD pass to end the opening quarter.

Sloan then hit a 41-yard TD pass to Locust and Miguel Pratt raced 60 yards for another score. On the final play of the half, Tyren Samuels picked off a pass and returned it 91 yards to send the Wolverines to the locker room with a commanding 42-0 advantage.

Vian sealed the win in the second half with a one-yard touchdown run by Samuels and a 10-yard TD run by Miguel Pratt. Kicker Chris Peoples converted all eight of his extra-point attempts as Vian improved to 12-0 on the season.

No. 7-ranked Colcord finished its season with a record of 10-2.
