For the second time in four days, the Vian Wolverines' state semifinal playoff game has been put on hold.

The Class 2A semifinal match-up between No. 4 Vian and No. 1 Davis has been moved from Monday night at Choctaw to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Putnam City High School.

The contest was originally scheduled for this past Saturday, but inclement weather last Thursday forced the initial postponement to Monday night.

The Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association announced at 10:30 a.m. Monday that the other Class 2A state semifinal has also been postponed. Spiro and Millwood will now play at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at East Central High School in Tulsa.

Vian head football coach Brandon Tyler said he was told the field at Choctaw was still unplayable as of Monday morning.

“They said Choctaw's field still had about four inches of snow and ice on it and they didn't think they could get it ready in time,” said Tyler. “We're ready to play, it doesn't matter where. We'd play in the middle of I-40 if we had to.”

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
