Charges have been filed and an arrest warrant has been issued for a Muldrow man accused of molesting a five-year-old girl.

Shawn Patrick Hogan, 50, was charged April 12 with one count of lewd molestation in Sequoyah County District Court, Sallisaw.

According to an affidavit filed by Cindy Smith, Sequoyah County District Attorney investigator, the 5-year-old girl told Smith that Hogan came into her bedroom while she was sleeping and began touching her inappropriately.

Smith spoke with Hogan and made arrangements to meet with him on March 30 about the allegations against him. Smith said she received a telephone call from Rob Cowan, an attorney who told her that his client, Hogan, would not be meeting with her. Smith said Cowan told her he would be in contact with Hogan.

On April 8, Smith called Cowan to ask him about the status of the case but Cowan was unable to give Smith any more information because Hogan had not had any contact with him since the first conversation. Cowan told Smith that Hogan has not had any contact with him.

Smith reported making several attempts to make contact with Hogan but has been unable to reach him. Hogan’s last known address according to court records was 202 N. Main St. in Muldrow.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
