Mallary Renee Waldon, 19, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and her cohort, Jonathan Cody Baxter, also of Murfreesboro, are accused of robbing the National Bank of Sallisaw Roland Branch on Feb. 26.
U.S. Attorney Sheldon J. Sperling said the charges arose from an investigation by the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Department, the Fort Smith (Ark.) Police Department, the Amarillo (Texas) Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Waldon and Baxter were indicted in March.
The indictment alleged that on Feb. 26 Waldon approached a bank teller and handed her a note stating she had a bomb in her purse and she would kill everyone in the bank if the teller did not give her all the money. After obtaining the money Waldon fled in an car driven by Baxter. The two were later apprehended in Amarillo.
U.S. District Judge Kimberly E. West accepted defendant Waldon’s guilty plea and ordered the completion of a presentence report. Sperling said sentencing will be scheduled following its completion. The defendant remains in the custody of the U.S. Marshal Service.
Sperling said the statutory range of punishment is not more than 20 years imprisonment and up to $250,000 in fines. A preliminary calculation of the Sentencing Guidelines projects an advisory sentencing range of 37 to 46 months imprisonment.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Chris Wilson represented the United States.
