OHP Trooper Shawn Griffey said at about 2:06 a.m. he was sitting at the end of a driveway one mile east of Gans speaking with a woman who reported a domestic fight.
Griffey said as he was taking the report from the woman he looked up to see a truck coming from the driveway straight for his patrol car. He said he tried to pull forward to avoid being struck but wasn’t quick enough.
The Chevy S-10 truck, driven by Dewain Elton Lee, struck the rear quarter panel of Griffey’s patrol car. Neither Griffey nor Lee were injured in the collision.
Griffey reported Lee said when he went to do something in the cab of the truck he accidentally put the truck in reverse and couldn’t stop it before it rolled into the patrol car.
According to the report Griffey’s patrol car suffered $750 in damages.
Lee was booked into the Sequoyah County Jail for aggravated DUI and released that same day on a $1,500 bond.
