Roland Lady Rangers get home wins over Gore, Arkoma

Lady Pirates get first win of season, downing Lady Mustangs in extra innings

By DAVID SEELEY SPORTS EDITOR

The Roland Lady Rangers ran their winning streak to four games Monday with a pair of home wins in their three-way, blanking Gore 10-0 in the last game of the night after opening the afternoon with a 17-1 rout of Arkoma.

The Lady Pirates got their first win of the season in the middle game, rallying in extra innings for a 6-5 victory over the Lady Mustangs.

ROLAND 10, GORE 0

Roland pitcher Emily Daws (3-2) pitched a two-hitter with six strikeouts.

The Lady Rangers (4-2) scored twice in the first inning on a two-out, two-run single by Jaydance Bean for a 2-0 lead.

An RBI single by Kynlei Earnhart, a two-run double by Addyson Clark and a wild pitch produced for runs to up Roland’s advantage to 6-0 after two innings.

A two-out, RBI single by Scarlett Qualls in the third inning made it 7-0, then the Lady Rangers put the game into run-rule status with an RBI single by Daws, an error and a wild pitch in the fourth inning.

For the game, Clark was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs batted in and two runs scored, while Qualls was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for Roland.

Natalie Casteel and Cheyenne Davidson each singled for the only hits for the Lady Pirates (1-5). Davidson (1-3) took the loss, despite getting three strikeouts in 3.1 innings.

ROLAND 17, ARKOMA 0

After falling behind 1-0 in the opening inning, the Lady Rangers erupted for 15 runs in their half of the frame to put away the game.

For the contest, Qualls was 3-for-3 with a triple, five RBIs and two runs scored, Daws was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs and Aubriana Gragg was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI for Roland.

KyLeigh Knapp (1-0) got her first win in relief, pitching the final two innings with five strikeouts. Daws pitched the first inning.

GORE 6, ARKOMA 5, 6 INNINGS

After the Lady Mustangs tied the game in the fifth inning at 4-all and took a 5-4 lead in the top of the sixth inning — which was played under the international tiebreaker rule by putting the runner who made the last out in the fifth inning at second base — the Lady Pirates scored twice in their half on an Arkoma error.

The Lady Pirates took a 1-0 lead in the opening inning on an RBI groundout by Cadi Shoemake.

The advantage bloomed to 3-0 in the second inning on an RBI single by Sophie O’Connor and an RBI groundout by Kennedy Williams.

After the Lady Mustangs tied the game at 3-all in the third inning, Arkoma took a 4-3 lead in the top of the fifth and final inning of regulation, Gore knotted the game at 4-all to force extra innings on Cadi Shoemake’s RBI groundout.

For the game, Paige Curran was 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, Kynley Webb was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored and River Shoemake tripled for Gore.

Davidson got the win in relief, pitching the final 2.2 innings with three strikeouts. Kendra Huckbay started and went the first 2.1 innings with three Ks.
