By DAVID SEELEY SPORTS EDITOR

FARGO, N.D. — Two Sallisaw Black Diamonds wrestlers are still in line for national titles at the 2024 USA National Juniors/Cadet Wrestling Tournament.

Cason Craft, who won the Class 4A 106-pound state title in February, opened with a 10-0 win over South Dakota’s Bailey Gillen 10-0 in his 106-pound Junior Division openinground match. He was slated to face Virginia’s Jonathan French in Round of 32.

Cole Mayfield, who won his second straight state championship last February, got a first-round bye in the 157-pound division in the Junior Division, then defeated Michigan’s Owen Segorski 13-2 and Minnesota’s Ryan Palmer 13-3. He was slated to meet Iowa’s Caleb Olson in Round of 64.

Sallisaw’s Bodie Adams, wrestling at 175 pounds in the Junior Division, got a first-round bye, then lost 2414 to Montana’s Anthony Garcia. After a bye into the third round of consolation, Adams, who was the Class 4A 165-pound state runner-up in February, defeated Florida’s Conor Bonney 21-10. He was slated to meet Efren Arizmendez of Texas in consolation round of 64.

Sallisaw Takedown Club member and soon-tobe Stilwell Lady Indian senior wrestler, Adrianna Chronister, wrestling at 140 pounds in the Women’s Junior Freestyle Division, received a first-round bye, then defeated Iowa’s Karise Benson 10-0, but lost 14-4 to Taylor Dawson of Illinois. She was slated to meet Oregon’s Megan Peterson in the consolation round of 32.
