Muldrow golfer gets call to join All-State Team

It looked as if Muldrow Lady Bulldogs senior golfer Claire Tabor’s high school career ended at last May’s Class 4A State Tournament. Then, she got perhaps the most important call to date last week.

Due to a member of the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State Girls East Golf Team either not able to play or decided not to play, Tabor got a call to be invited to fill in the void, and so she will get to play in Monday’s All-State Golf Tournament at Catoosa’s Cherokee Hills Golf Course.

“It was a really great and unexpected surprise,” Tabor said. “I was just really happy because I have put so much work in over the years. It’s a good accomplishment.”

Monday’s All-State Golf Tournament will give Tabor a chance at some redemption as her final Class 4A State Tournament did not go her way as she was unable to play on Day 2 of the twoday event due to illness.

“That (redemption) is exactly what I was thinking,” said Tabor, who was a four-time Class 4A State Tournament qualifier. It’s an honor that I’m going to get to represent Muldrow one last time.” The Class of 2024 Muldrow High School graduate is glad to be a Lady Bulldog one more time on Monday.

“It’s really special,” Tabor said. “Going to Muldrow my whole life and playing sports for Muldrow my whole life, I’m really glad that I get to go to All-State and get to represent Muldrow one more time before I go off to college.”

While playing college golf is not in the cards for Tabor, she said she would have to make the tough decision to say no to any possible offers she might get from a college coach or scout should one be made during Monday’s All-State Golf Tournament.

“I’m pretty set on my college path right now and what my plans are, so I probably wouldn’t take up any offers (to play college golf) at this point in time,” she said. “I’m going to go to the University of Arkansas and major in business.”

Tabor is anxious to end her high school career on a high note on Monday.

“Of course, I would like to get a really great score and beat any other score I’ve shot before, but my biggest concern is just go out there and have fun,” Tabor said. “I’m looking forward to it. It will be very fun.”
