Lady Bulldogs suffer season-opening, district-opening loss to Broken Bow

By DAVID SEELEY SPORTS EDITOR

BROKEN BOW — It was a rough start to the 2024 fast-pitch season for the Muldrow Lady Bulldogs on Monday afternoon as they were blanked 20-0 by the host Broken Bow Lady Savages.

The Lady Bulldogs (0-1 overall, 0-1 in District 4A-6 play) only got a single by Amaya Duran as their only offensive showing.

The Lady Savages (1-0, 1-0) put away the game in the opening inning with an 11-run first inning. An eight-run second inning and a single run in the fourth inning put the game into run-rule status. Jaydin Dean (0-1) suffered the loss, only going an inning with a strikeout. Duran went the final three innings with two Ks.

OTHER GAMES WASHED OUT

Several games Monday were won by Mother Nature as the Sunday and Monday rain showers made fields to wet to have games played.

Games lost to wet fields were Sallisaw at Hilldale, Gans at Webbers Falls, Eufaula at Roland, Henryetta at Vian, Central at Warner and Gore and Graham-Dustin at Wilson (Henryetta).

The Central-Warner game will be made up at noon today.

The Gans-Webbers Falls contest will be made up when the two teams play at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 29 in Gans, but Webbers Falls coach Kera Carter said there will not be a varsity doubleheader — just the one varsity game played that day.

The other games have not yet been rescheduled.
