Warriors senior likes being part of running, passing games for WF
Webbers Falls senior football player Aiden Turley is liking how his Warriors, entering at 2-0 as they prep for tonight’s home game vs. Keota at 7 p.m. at Smokey Cox Stadium, is blending the running and passing games to make their offense even better.
“We’re trying to pass some more,” Turley said. “I think it’s working. We’re passing it a lot better, and our receivers are getting a lot better. Even I have to be ready to be a receiver. Doing both has been fun.”
Turley credits the men in the trenches for the team’s offensive success, which has seen them score 94 points in their first two wins this season — 44-20 over Quinton and 50-0 at Canadian.
“Our offensive line has been doing well,” he said.
Turley believes the Warriors are living by one simple motto — “We’re not giving up.” Turley also believes the Warriors have a good shot at winning the Class B-II state championship. “I think we can have a lot of success,” Turley said. “It’s hard to put into words what it would feel like if we win state. It would feel great if we can win it.” Since he is one of five seniors on the Warriors, he knows he has to be a team leader. “I feel like I lead by example,” the Webbers Falls senior running back said. “I love lowering my shoulder and running people over. I just let my abilities do the talking.”
Turley cannot believe his senior year has arrived, meaning his Webbers Warriors football playing days are nearing an end.
“It’s going by quick,” he said. “It feels just like yesterday I was starting (as a freshman). I’m just laying it all on the line, but I’m having fun.”
