Webbers Falls girls handle Arkoma in season opener Tuesday night

The Webbers Falls Lady Warriors started the 2024-25 season the right way with a 3221 Riverside Conference home victory over the Arkoma Lady Mustangs on Tuesday night at Webbers Falls Event Center.

The Lady Warriors (1-0 overall, 1-0 in conference play) doubled the Lady Mustangs 12-6 in the first quarter, but the Lady Mustangs (0-1, 0-1) cut their deficit to 17-13 at halftime but got no closer.

The Lady Warriors outscored the Lady Mustangs 15-8 in the second half to win going away.

Bridgette Baer led all scorers with a game-high 12 points to lead Webbers Falls, followed by Cheyanne Herrier with seven points, Abbie Patterson with five points, Kailey Mannon with four points and Audri Spears and Bailey Ward with two points apiece.

MULDROW 48, STILWELL 40

Tuesday night in Stilwell, the Lady Bulldogs (1-0 overall, 1-0 in NOAA Conference play) jumped out to a 19-11 lead over the Lady Indians (0-1, 0-1) after a quarter, but Stilwell cut its deficit to 23-22 at halftime. An 11-8 third quarter for Muldrow upped its advantage to 34-30 after three quarters, then a 14-10 final period sealed the deal.

For the game, Kayla Ellingberg scored a gamehigh 13 points and Jensi Fields added 10 points to lead Muldrow, followed by Kilah Ellingberg with seven points, London Hardin with six points, Danica Tune with five points, Emma Fields with four points and Maysi Fields with three points.

SEQUOYAH-TAHLEQUAH 59, ROLAND 44

Tuesday night in Tahlequah, the Lady Rangers (0-1) suffered a seasonopening loss to the Lady Indians (1-0), who jumped out to a 12-7 lead after a quarter en route to a 24-19 halftime advantage and a 45-36 lead going into the fourth quarter.

In defeat, Ryanne Nelke scored a game-high 15 points and Haven Freeman added 12 points to lead Roland, followed by Halle Freeman and Molly Carver with seven points each, Lilly Cole with four points and Ari Acevedo with a free throw.

EDITOR’S NOTE — Gore’s Tuesday night Riverside Conference home game against Porum at Gore Event Center was canceled due to the fact the Lady Panthers are in their own tournament this week. No make-up date has been set yet.
