Muldrow teams split games with Central
The Muldrow High School basketball teams split their home games against county rival Central on Tuesday night at Roger Sharp Activity Center.
The Bulldogs ended the night with a 60-48 victory over the Tigers for their first win of the new season. However, the Lady Tigers nipped the host Lady Bulldogs 51-44.
BOYS
MULDROW 60, CENTRAL 48
The Bulldogs (1-2) pretty much led from start to finish as they took a 16-13 lead after a quarter and a 29-22 advantage into the locker rooms at halftime.
The Tigers (1-1) rallied in the third quarter, outscoring the ’Dogs 15-10 in the period to cut the Muldrow lead to 39-37. However, the Bulldogs kept the Tigers at bay with a 21-11 fourth quarter.
For the game, the ’Dogs put a trio of players into double figures, led by Teaguen Collins with a game-high 19 points, Jaxson Anstine with 13 points and Jesse Kilinc with 12 points. D.J. Massey had six points, followed by DeShawn Willson and Parker Sevenstar with four points each and Tyson Williams with two points.
In defeat, Josh Brunk scored 18 points and Aidan Sainer added 14 points to lead Central, followed by Braxin Goodson with six points, Jake Woods with five points, Noah Buzzard with three points and Hardy Buzzard with two points.
GIRLS
CENTRAL 51, MULDROW 44
The Lady Tigers (2-0) doubled the Lady Bulldogs (1-2) in the opening period 6-3 en route to a 25-18 halftime lead and a 46-33 advantage going into the fourth quarter.
The Lady Bulldogs tried to make a final-period run, outscoring the Lady Tigers 11-5 but the rally fell short.
For the game, Cambree Bair led all scorers with a game-high 22 points to lead Central, followed by Ayrland Jiles with 11 points, Haley Cheek with seven points, Hadlie Woods with five points, Cheyenne Busch with four points and Ryleigh Pierce with two points.
In defeat, London Hardin and Maysi Fields led Muldrow with eight points each, followed by Emma Fields, Kilah Ellingberg and Chloee Clark each with six points, Jaydin Dean with four points, Gracie Prewett and Kayla Ellingberg with two points each and Jensi Fields with a free throw.
