Wolverines land 16 players on All-District 2AII-4 team

By DAVID SEELEY SPORTS EDITOR

When a football team goes undefeated through the regular season, wins its district title outright and makes it to the state title game, one expects several members of that team to make its alldistrict team.

Such was the case for the Vian Wolverines as they landed 16 players on the All-District 2AII-4 Football Team.

Nine of those 16 players garnered the special awards, led by Masyn Wright who was named the District 2AII4 Most Valuable Player.

Offensive special award winners for the Wolverines were Draighton Fletcher as the Running Back of the Year, Jacob Brannick as the Wide Receiver of the Year, Tristan Wiley as the Tight End of the Year and Cash Collins as the Offensive Lineman of the Year.

Nathen Cheater and Peyton Johnson shared the Defensive Lineman of the Year Award, Riley Ellis got the Linebacker of the Year Award and Mikayah Mendoza got the Special Teams Player of the Year Award.

Cheater will play in the 2025 Native American All-Star Game on Jan. 7 at The Star in Frisco (Texas).

Seven other Wolverines made the first-team alldistrict.

On offense, firstteam members are quarterback Cash Trammel, center Garritt Hunt and guard Max Ross, while linebackers Tyson Murphy and Trace Sanders, safety Adoff Stahl and cornerback Kaden Fulbright made the first-team defense.

The Wolverines went 13-1 this season, had a perfect 10-0 regular season en route to winning the District 2AII-4 title outright and played Davis in the first-ever Class 2A, Division II state title game, losing 28-18 on Dec. 7 at the University of Central Oklahoma’s Chad Richison Stadium in Edmond.
