Public memorial service set for David Boren
OKLAHOMA CITY – A public memorial honoring the life of former governor and U.S. senator David L. Boren is set for next month.
The service will be held at 2 p.m. March 29 at Saint Luke’s Methodist Church, 222 NW 15th Street in Oklahoma City, said Bob Burke, a family spokesman. A reception at the church will follow, Burke said.
Boren, 83, who served as a past president of the University of Oklahoma, died last week.
Boren is expected to be buried near his parents in Seminole during a private ceremony this week. He is survived by his wife of more than 45 years, Molly Shi, and his two children from a previous marriage, Carrie Christine Boren, a minister, and David Daniel Boren, a former U.S. House member from Oklahoma.
