Webbers Falls, Gore tracksters place in Wilburton Invitational

WI L B URTON — The Webbers Falls and Gore high school track teams got their seasons underway at the Wilburton Invitational, which took place March 27.

The Lady Warriors came in fifth in the team standings with 40 points, while the Lady Pirates tied for 16th with six points.

The Pirates were seventh with 27 points, while the Warriors were 14th with four points.

Webbers Falls Lady Warrior Cheyanne Herrier, who signed a cross country letter of intent with Murray State College last month, won the 3,200-meter run (14:06.11) and was runner-up in the 1,600-meter run (6:45.58).

Gore’s Devon Mannon was the other local athlete to place first, taking the gold medal in the 300-meter hurdles (44.36 seconds).

Several other Webbers Falls and Gore athletes placed in the meet.

The Pirates saw three athletes make the top six in the 110-meter hurdles as Weston Cunningham was runnerup (17.12 seconds), Trenton Cunningham was fifth (18.49) and Devon Mannon was sixth (18.64).

Herrier’s teammate River Qualls was third in the 3,200-meter run (16:59.75), while Webbers Falls Warrior Joseph Moore was ninth in the 3,200-meter run (13:20.33). Webbers Falls Lady Warrior Kailey Mannon was seventh in the girls’ 300-meter hurdles (1:00.69).

In the girls’ 800-meter run, Gore’s Rayleigh Moore was fourth (2:55.99), Gore’s Amelia White was fifth (3:00.27), Webbers Falls runner Peyton Shanks was 13th (3:29.63), Qualls was 15th (3:41.37) and Webbers Falls’ Hailey Shanks was 17th (3:54.49). Shanks was 24th in the discus (40-11) and was 27th in the shot put (17-7).

Several Warriors and Pirates shot put throwers placed, led by Webbers Falls’ Thadan Yandell, who was fourth (39-7.5). Gore’s Antonio Parker was fifth (37-8.5), Webbers Falls’ Chevy Cole was 17th (33-10.25), Gore’s Marcus Scott was 22nd (31-11), Gore’s Maden Smith was 27th (30-10) and Webbers Falls Warrior Chandler Cramer was 39th (265.75).

In the boys’ discus, Scott was fifth (101-7), Parker was sixth (96-6), Yandell was 17th (74-3), Cole was 18th (72-7), Smith was 22nd (68-0) and Cramer was 30th (50-4).

Gore’s Cole Brooksher was ninth (17-3), Webbers Falls’ Cordae Shine was 31st (14-6) and Shine’s teammate Colton Lester was 37th (13-3) in the boys’ long jump.

Weston Cunningham was sixth (46.88 seconds) and Trenton Cunningham was eighth (49.06) in the boys’ 300-meter hurdles.

In the boys’ 200-meter dash, Weston Cunningham was ninth (24.93 seconds), Brooksher was 12th (25.59), Gore’s Gabe Hefley was 17th (26.57) and Cole was 36th (31.2).

Hefley was 10th (58.63 seconds) and teammate Landyn Johnson was 31st (1:14.39) in the 400 dash.

Weston Cunningham was 11th (12.23 seconds), Devon Mannon was 12th (12.28), Brooksher was 13th (12.3), Trenton Cunningham was 18th (12.6) and Hefley was 20th (12.76) in the boys’ 100-meter dash.

In the boys’ 800-meter run, Lester was 13th (2:39.95), Johnson was 26th (2:51.05) and Webbers Falls’ Ryker Gilley was 31st (3:14.07).

Shine was 15th (5-2) and Devon Mannon tied for 16th (5-0) in the boys’ high jump.

White was 15th (1:12.64), Moore was 17th (1:13.97) and Qualls was 25th (1:23.15) in the girls’ 400-meter dash.

Five runners placed run the girls’ 200-meter dash as White was 19th (32.25 seconds), Gore’s Gracie Bruce was 25th (33.24), Webbers Falls’ Hannah Kay Mason was 26th (33.74), Webbers Falls’ Madison Smith was 28th (34.08) and Webbers Falls’ Audri Spears was 29th (34.1). Bruce was 34th in the 100-meter dash (15.67 seconds).

Webbers Falls had a pair of runners place in the boys’ 1,600-meter run as Moore was 28th (6:59.3) and Gilley was 30th (7:17.53).

Webbers Falls Lady Warrior Abbie Patterson was 29th (8-9) in the long jump.

Smith, Mason, Patterson and Herrier were 8th in the 800-meter relay (2:11.03).
