A visit to the museum
Gore Public School’s fourth and fifth grade students recently spent time at the Fort Smith Marshall Museum. The exhibits were very interesting, and the interactive storytelling was a great experience. Students learned that many women served as marshals, and Judge Isaac Parker of Fort Smith had one of the greatest marshals ever, Bass Reeves. A portion of a beam from the 9/11 Twin Towers is on display, and students were able to make a connection between the stories they had been told and the actual day's events. Students used their new knowledge to make a stop-motion video with a backdrop and all the necessary equipment.
