River Valley Freestyle Academy members place at OKUSA State Championships

By DAVID SEELEY SPORTS EDITOR

TULSA — Six members of the River Valley Freestyle Academy placed at the 2025 Oklahoma United States Wrestling State Championship Tournament, which took place Saturday at Arvest Convention Center.

Three members won championships. Gore Pirates Youth Wrestling wrestler Jaydan Gates, just like the weekend before, captured two titles at 175 pounds in the age 14-and-younger division as he took gold in both freestyle and Greco-Roman competitions.

Sallisaw Black Diamonds wrestler Bodie Adams, who won the Class 4A State Tournament at 175 pounds, won the championship on Saturday at 175 pounds in the junior boys division.

Sallisaw Takedown Club member and Stilwell Lady Indians wrestler Adriana Chronister won the junior girls title at 145 pounds.

Sallisaw Black Diamonds wrestler Morgan Duke, who was third at the Class 4A State Tournament, was runnerup in both freestyle and Greco-Roman competitions at 126 pounds in the junior boys division.

Sallisaw Takedown Club member and Sallisaw Black Diamonds wrestler Briar James was third at 150 pounds in the age 16-and-younger division.

Drew Simpson, who was a member of the inaugural Roland Rangers high school wrestling team last season, was fourth at 219 pounds in the junior boys division.

Adams, Duke, James, Simpson and Chronister all qualified for the 2025 United States Marine Corps Junior Nationals, which will take place July 1019 in Fargo, N.D.

Gates, who also won the freestyle and Greco-Roman championships at the Southern Plains Regional Tournament on May 17 at the Oklahoma City Convention Center, is eligible to participate in the 2025 USA Wrestling Kids Freestyle and Greco-Roman Nationals, which will take place June 27-29 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
