Area youngsters get to meet their local ‘Heroes’
Area youngsters visited and took photos with local heroes of the Sallisaw Police and Fire departments on Friday at the Stanley Tubbs Memorial Library as part of the “Meet Your Heroes” event, held annually by the library. Those in attendance were able to suit up in hero clothing and see what it’s like to be a firefighter, police officer, highway patrolman or sheriff’s deputy.
While visiting the various heroes, Tess Williams trained to be a firefighter by operating a hose, while Ty Williams suited up to fight fires.
