Winds damage District 1 county barn
The fierce winds that raked Sequoyah County Friday morning and reportedly spawned a tornado in the western part of the county, took their toll at the District 1 county barn, located at 2311 N. Maple.
The line of thunderstorms preceded by a wind front that roared through the county about sunrise, buffeting trees and sheering the roof from a lean-to at the county barn that covers equipment used for District 1, according to Commissioner Jim Rogers, who provided photos of the damage.
There were no injuries reported from the wind damage at the county barn. There are no damage estimates.
The front blew into Arkansas, where more tornadoes were reported, and continued tracking east. Rain is forecast to continue in eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas through midday Saturday.
