Local wrestler goes 9-5 in National Duals

By DAVID SEELEY SPORTS EDITOR

OAKS, Pa. — Gore Pirates Youth Wrestling wrestler Jaydan Gates, who is wrestling this summer for the River Valley Freestyle Academy, went 9-5 in combined matches in both freestyle and Greco-Roman competition for Team Oklahoma at the 2025 Age 14-and-Younger National Duals, which took place last week.

In Greco-Roman competition, Gates, who wrestled at 175 pounds, went 6-2 to earn the title of All-American.

Last month, Gates participated in the Southern Plains Regional Tournament, which took place at the Oklahoma City Convention Center, where he won both the freestyle and Greco-Roman competition titles at 175 pounds in the age 14-and-younger division.

Gates will be eligible to participate in the 2025 USA Wrestling Kids Freestyle and Greco-Roman Nationals, which will take place June 27-29 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
