City council avoids ‘dangerous precedent’ while considering de-annexation request

What if owners of the city’s 4,200 parcels of property could decide on their own — regardless where the property is located or the status of neighboring property — whether or not they want to be in the city limits?

That’s a nightmare scenario the city has no interest in experiencing, which is why when a de-annexation request came before the Sallisaw City Commissioners, there was no interest in “setting a dangerous precedent.”
