Sallisaw softball players honored at awards banquet
The 2025 Sallisaw Lady Diamonds softball awards banquet took place Wednesday night at the Sallisaw Middle School cafeteria.
Sydney Weedon was recognized for making the All-Region 4 Team, making her in line to be an Oklahoma Fast-Pitch Softball Coaches Association East All-State Team member, as well as making the All-District 4A-6 Team with teammates Delaney Compton, Channing Wilson and Jaycie Cox and being named the Player of the Year and the Offensive Player of the Year.
Compton was awarded the Black Diamond Award as well as being named the Pitcher of the Year.
Freshman Abby Webb, sophomore Natalie Gonzalez and Wilson, a junior, were named the Outstanding Players of the Year in their respective grades.
Cox earned two awards, the Best Baserunner Award and the Outfielder of the Year award.
KeLee Curson and Jentri Burkart were named the Co-Most Improved Players of the Year, while JoLee Curson and Babe Carter were the Co-Newcomers of the Year.
Brinkley Mills was named the Infielder of the Year, while Wilson was named the Defensive Player of the Year.
Senior manager/trainer Jacy Gomez was recognized for what she did to help the team in those capacities.
All team members, Weedon, Compton, Cox, Wilson, Gonzalez, Webb, KeLee Curson, JoLee Curson, Burkart, Carter, Mills, Aubrey Sanders, Teagan Lewis, Alicia Tarin and Lainey Ball, received Letter S Certificates of Participation.
