Gore sweeps Riverside Conference games from Webbers Falls

The Gore High School basketball teams swept a pair of Riverside Conference games from their Arkansas River rivals from Webbers Falls last Thursday night at Webbers Falls Event Center.

The Lady Pirates beat their former coach Staci Simeroth and the Lady Warriors 53-34, then the Pirates completed the sweep with a 67-51 victory over the Warriors.

In the Gore girls’ win over Webbers Falls, the Lady Pirates (4-3), winners of three straight, jumped out to a 25-8 lead after a period en route to a 33-18 halftime advantage and a 46-24 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Gore put a trio of players into double figures, led by River Shoemake with 13 points, followed by Kennedy Williams with 11 points and Emily Daily with 10 points. Gracie Bruce had eight points, followed by Rayleigh Moore with seven points and Sophie O’Connor with four points.

In defeat, Allie Patterson scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Lady Warriors (3-4), followed by Bailey Ward with five points, Katie Frazier with four points, Peyton Shanks, Abbie Patterson and Paizley Turley with two points each and Audri Spears with a free throw.

In the Gore boys’ victory over Webbers Falls, the Pirates (5-3) took an 18-11 lead after a quarter, but the Warriors (3-5) trimmed their deficit to 32-27 at halftime. The Pirates put away the game with an 18-7 third quarter to give them a 50-34 lead going into the final period.

For the game, Cain Cooper scored a game-high 27 points to lead Gore, followed by Tate Brooksher with 14 points, Eli Munson with 12 points and Gabe Hefley with 11 points. Cruz Ward added three points for the Pirates.

In defeat, Thadan Yandell scored 17 points and Brutus Robinson added 13 points to lead Webbers Falls, followed by Cason Newcomer with eight points, Gunner Shelby with six points, Chevy Cole with four points and Eli Hefflin with three points.
