Webbers Falls splits with Braggs; girls win by forfeit over Lady Wildcats

The Webbers Falls High School basketball teams split their home games with Braggs on Tuesday night on Coach Jerry Ward Court at Webbers Falls Event Center.

While the Lady Warriors beat the Lady Wildcats by forfeit, the two teams played an exhibition game in which the Lady Warriors won 53-20.

The Warriors lost to the ’Cats 72-45. In the boys’ game, the Wildcats jumped out to a 10-2 lead after a quarter, which became a 34-14 halftime advantage and a 52-30 lead going into the final period.

Newcomer

In defeat, Cason Newcomer scored 11 points and Thadan Yandell added 10 points to lead the Warriors (3-6), followed by Gunner Shelby with five points, Chevy Cole, Eli Hefflin and Brutus Robinson with four points each, Ryker Gilley with three points and Trysten Wilbourn with two points.

In the girls’ exhibition contest, the Lady Warriors (4-4) led 14-6 after a quarter, 31-12 at the half and 41-17 after three periods.

Allie Patterson scored a contesthigh 19 points and Abbie Patterson added 10 points to lead Webbers Falls, followed by Bailey Ward with six points, Paizley Turley with five points, Katie Frazier with four points, Peyton Shanks and Audri Spears with three points each, Kimberlee Rolston with two points and Madison Smith with a free throw.
