Energy is energy whether it powers machinery or quickens our minds to think and create. It all comes from the same source so when we talk about wasted energy we must know the loss in ourselves. It cannot help but reflect in every day needs of living.
The Sallisaw City Commission deemed Monday, March 9 as Marley Abell Day in Sallisaw. For those of you who do not know Marley, you have likely been the beneficiary of his volunteer work. While his day job is as a financial advisor at Firstar Financial, his spare time is often filled with volunteering through the Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, and served on the Sallisaw Planning Commission for many years.
The House spent hours on the floor every day this week to consider hundreds of bills that survived the committee process.
Recently, students in Susan Hill’s Humanities class had the opportunity to participate in a virtual field trip to the Parthenon in Nashville, Tenn. According to the Nashville Parks and Recreation website, the Parthenon is the centerpiece of Centennial Park, Nashville’s premier urban park Nashville’s Parthenon is a re-creation of the 42-foot statue Athena- the focus of the Parthenon just as it was in ancient Greece. The building and the Athena statue are both full-scale replicas of the Athenian originals.
