What are friends for?

This week Noretta Livesay, my friend at the Haskell County Historical Society, mailed me a clipping from the Daily Oklahoman dated October 29, 1942. The headline read Stigler Man Will Get Son’s Medal. The article wrote of the uncommon valor shown by W.D. Hargis, Jr. during the pivotal Battle of Midway fought June 4-7, 1942. Such uncommon courage as to be awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, the second highest military honor our nation bestows behind only the Congressional Medal of Honor.
