Thanksgiving dinner will be drive-thru
As with many other organizations, the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the normal flow of things, which has caused Community Partners to make a change for this year's community Thanksgiving dinner.
Instead of a sit-down Thanksgiving dinner, the Community Partners have scheduled a drive-thru dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Nov. 25 at the Sallisaw Middle School, according to Melissa Lowe with the KiBois Community Action Foundation.
KiBois, Sallisaw Health and Wellness, Sallisaw NOW and People, Inc., make up Community Partners., Lowe said.
In addition to the drive-thru, KATS buses will be making deliveries to four apartment complexes that include Tsa La Gi, Cooper Park, Garden Walk and Village West. Managers at those apartment complexes are compiling sign-up sheets for those who want to receive a dinner.
Lowe said the dinner is free to the entire county, and the group expects to serve about 800 people, about the same number that was served last year.
“The Thanksgiving dinner is made possible through donations from local businesses, and we appreciate them very much,” Lowe said.
