Authorities bust pair for drug violations
A Vian woman and an Arkansas man were arrested on drug-related charges Friday after the Sequoyah County Sheriff's office and the District 27 Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence on north Dwight Mission Road.
Maggie Liberto, 33, of Vian and Rodney Jordan, 39, of Fort Smith are facing possible charges of possession of a controlled dangerous substance (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana) with intent to distribute, child endangerment, maintaining a residence where a controlled dangerous substance is kept or sold, after former conviction of a felony.
Sequoyah County Sheriff Larry Lane said deputies with his office and District 27 Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence on north Dwight Mission Road, near the Pinhook Corner area.
Investigators and deputies found methamphetamine, marijuana and schedule narcotics in the home, along with packaging materials, digital scales and other items of paraphernalia consistent with the use and distribution of illegal drugs, Lane said.
Lane said there was also a small child present in the residence, found in close proximity with access to the narcotics.
“Our sheriff's investigators, along with the DTF investigators are working together and gathering information every day. We will continue to relentlessly pursue and bust drug dealers. We've warned them from day one, either clean up your lives and stop selling drugs or move out of our county, or they will go to jail,” Lane said.
Both suspects remained in jail as of Friday afternoon. No bail had been set.
Jordan has also been placed on hold for Arkansas, where he has an outstanding felony warrant for a probation/parole violation.
