Chamber adjusts for Bassnanza, Sept. 26

There will be a slight change in the 2020 Kerr Lake Bassnanza with the weigh-in being held on the parking lot of the Sallisaw High School instead of Cherokee Casino due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 16th annual Bassnanza Fishing Tournament will be held Satur

The 16th annual Bassnanza Fishing Tournament will be held Saturday, Sept. 26 at Kerr Lake, Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Marty Green said. He said social distancing will be in effect during the weigh-in.

Applications are being taken now, Green said, and can be picked up at the chamber office or online at sallisawchamber.com. Entry forms and tournament rules are also available online.

Green said applications received before Sept. 18 will receive a complimentary T-shirt. A complimentary meal will also be served after the tournament in a picnic style on the high school grounds. Tournament manager is Brent Salt of 5 Fish Productions.

“We usually have a lot of sponsors for this event,” Green said. “We'll be paying back on percentage. Last year, we paid the winner about $4,000. The largest fish paid about $800. We had 32 entries last year. We anticipate a good turnout, with the state fair not going on. We would love for everyone to come out and have a good time.”
