Four vying for trustee seat
As of press time Friday, four people have filed for an open Vian trustee seat that was vacated by former trustee and vice mayor Chad Ford, after he resigned last month after moving out of town limits, making him unable to retain his seat.
The current board of trustees will meet on Monday, Oct. 15 to appoint one of the four who has filed: Sue Brown, Larry Patterson, Tyler White and Preston Remer.
Town attorney Larry Vickers, Jr. said last month that anyone interested in being appointed to the seat should submit a letter of interest to Town Hall. Written notice should be delivered to Town Hall by 4 p.m. Oct. 10, in order to be on the upcoming agenda.
“The council hopes to appoint someone. They have so many days to fill the seat or otherwise they have to call a special election due to us being so far from the next general one,” Vickers said.
