Members learn about sluggish metabolism

TOPS Club Inc. Chapter 0737 Sallisaw had another great day Sept. 3, with 11 members in attendance.  We began our meeting by saying our TOPS Pledge.

This week Diane was the best weight loss with a 4.4 pound loss.  Keep up the good work, Diane! The Two-Bit winner name drawn this week was Kathy, who lost weight this week, so she received the quarters in the jar.  Good job, Kathy!  Virginia has lost over 10 pounds with this weigh day.  She received her silver charm bracelet.  When she loses another 10 pounds she will receive a TOPS charm.  Congratulations, Virginia!

Our contest has two more weeks to go.  Team 1 is 91 and Team 2 is 116.  Let’s go Team 1, we can still win the contest!

Our motivational quote for this week is:  Progress is impossible without change and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything,  George Bernard Shaw.   Our challenge of the week is to call a TOPS sister and ask her where she was born and how many siblings she has.  With our club being a month old now, we are learning more about one another and sharing with one another.

Billie brought the program.  She read an article out of Woman’s World magazine, September issue about Patsy Casteen.  She joined TOPS and lost 101 pounds at age 60.  She discovered hydrating foods that ignite a sluggish metabolism.  Patsy tried to stay under 1,500 calories a day while filling up on water-rich fruits and veggies.   In the beginning of her journey, she put a ‘before’ photo on her refrigerator so it would serve as a reminder of how far she’d come.  She said, “I’ve realized that life gives back to you what you put into it…so put your whole heart in, you will end up in an amazing place!”   Always get a doctor’s okay to try a new plan.

A few announcements for our group to remember are:  Sept. 22 will be a Hi-5 Motivational Meeting at Frink Baptist Church in McAlester; Fun Day will be Oct. 13 at Frink Baptist Church in McAlester.  This will be a time to give Area Captain Dee Allen best wishes on her retirement.  Terri Krebs will be taking on the job as Area Captain; State Recognition Day (SRD) will be May 23-25, 2019 in Broken Arrow.  Our theme will be ‘Oil Barons’; and each chapter is to make a quilt square in honor of the Oil Baron them and send it in to be added to other chapter squares and make a quilt that will be raffled off at SRD.

We are off to a good start and everyone is invited to visit.  We meet at First Christian Church, 706 N. Wheeler, Sallisaw, at 10:30 a.m. to Noon. For more info, please call Billie at 918-413-1383 or Shirley at 918-571-3353.  We look forward to meeting you.
