Members learn to eat better, make better choices

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and bright New Year. Our Gore TOPS Club have started with a great 2018. I am excited about a new year for our group. In 2017, we had a net loss of 206.6 pounds, average over 10 pounds between 20 ladies. WooHoo, that is a loud way to go ladies.

This past Thursday evening we had 13 ladies weigh in. We are also happy to welcome Brenda to our club. This evening was our first weigh in for the New Year, so we all start out in the black, which means, we start the year with a new chart and begin a new year with no gain or loss.

We opened our meeting with the song, “No More Eatsa, Little Pizza,” led by Linda. We have a 45 day challenge started. The rules are to exercise at least 15 minutes a day, drink at least 32 ounces of water and eat at least five fruits or vegetables a day.

Our co-leader, Diana gave the program from the TOPS Magazine and National Geographic. Eating better and making better choices and watching our portions is key to getting healthier. Writing down what we eat and having a piece of fruit or fresh veggie for a snack will help us learn a healthier lifestyle behavior. The National Geographic magazine had an article about the effects of sugar in the United States.

We would love to get to know you. You are welcome to join us in getting healthy by contacting Shirley at 918-571-3353 or Diana at 918-489-5798. Or drop in on Thursday evenings at the Cornerstone Tabernacle at 401 W. 8th St., in Gore. We meet from 5 to 7 p.m. Looking forward to meeting you, Billie
